Week 8 Preview

(TUES 8:00) Kennesaw State @ Middle Tennessee (-10), Draft Kings 1.2 Units

This is simple. Middle Tennessee is ass, but Kennesaw State is major ass. Middle Tennessee has played a tougher schedule so far this season. Kennesaw State has more rest, but I don't know how much that matters for a team like them. Middle Tennessee's bad stats are skewed a little bit because of playing a little above their weight class at times this season (Ole Miss, Duke, and Memphis). Kennesaw State has yet to win a game this season, FBS or FCS! Middle Tennessee should be able to manage enough on offense to get the win and the cover. I'll take Middle Tennessee -10 or lower.

(WED 9:00) FIU (-5) @ UTEP, Draft Kings

UTEP is possibly playing this game without its starting QB Cade McConnell (4 TD's 3 INT's). With or without him UTEP is playing a FIU defense that isn't all that bad. Besides a hiccup against Monmouth, they have been reliable and kept FIU in games. Specifically in pass defense they rank 41st in the country in success rate. That would be bad news for a back-up QB like Skyler Locklear (3 TD's 4I NT's) starting QB McConnell. I'll take FIU to cover, and I'd take the number to -6.5.

(SAT 12:00) Arizona State @ Cincinnati (-5.5), Fan Duel

Arizona State is traveling east for a noon start with back-up QB Jeff Sims. He is the QB that turned the ball over a bunch last year for Nebraska. I’ll take the better QB Brent Sorensby and home team in the Bear Cats.

(SAT 2:00) Central Michigan @ Eastern Michigan (-3), BET MGM

Central Michigan is down to their back-up QB Tyler Jefferson who is a freshman. Ill take the home team inn this rivalry, especially playing against a Freshman QB.

(SAT 3:30) Alabama @ Tennessee (total 56.5) OVER, Fan Duel

Alabama’s secondary has struggled in recent weeks, and they are now facing a Heisman candidate QB in Nico. On the other side, Tennessee just lost their leading tackler at Linebacker for the season. I expect QB Jalen Milroe to be able to create some plays with his feet. I like lots of points in Neyland Stadium.

(SAT 4:00) Jame Madison (-9.5) @ Georgia Southern, Fan Duel

Georgia Southern got lucky to beat Marshall last week. Now they face a real team in JMU. I expect JMU to handle GA Southern.

(SAT 4:00) Baylor @ Texas Tech (-5.5), Bet Rivers

Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas is a different animal. Baylor is reeling, HC Dave Aranda is on the hot seat. I’ll take the Red Raiders at home.

(SAT 4:00) New Mexico @ Utah State (total 78.5) UNDER, BET MGM

I do not care how bad both defenses are. That is just too many damn points. I’ll bet this under and watch the bottom line on my tv while watching a better game, no offense to either team.

(SAT 7:00) Arkansas State (-6.5) @ Southern Mississippi, BET MGM

Both teams have a 2-4 record, but the strength of schedule is very different between the two. Arkansas State’s rank 37th while Southern Mississippi’s ranks 91st. The quality of opponents has been vast. Also, I like Arkansas State QB Jaylen Rainer (1300 yards 4 TDs) going up against one of the worst pass defenses in the country. Southern Miss is having QB Issues as well, they benched Tate Rodmaker for Ethan Crawford last week. Crawford went 9 for 26 with an INT in week 7. Crawford will start against Arkansas State apparently.
