Week 7 Review
Week 7 Review
(FRI 10:30) Utah (-5.5) @ Arizona State, Draft Kings (Profit Boost)
Utah 19 @ Arizona State 27, LOSS
Cam Rising get a damn job! He looked awful on Friday night. You can tell he is still injured and not just hurt. Rising was 16/37 209 yards and 3 INT’s. Utah would have been much better served playing his back-up, Isaac Wilson. It didn’t help as well that Arizona State’s RB Cam Skattebo ran for over 150 yards and 2 TD’s. Should of known Utah on the road is a very different team.
(SAT 12:00) Ball State @ Kent State (total 59.5) OVER, Bet Rivers
Ball State 37 @ Kent State 35 (total 72), WIN
This could have been a loss, but some late game MACtion Magic got us the cover and some. Halfway through the 4th quarter the score was 27-21, Then 30-21 with 3 minutes left in the game. In the last 3 minutes Kents State threw a touchdown to make it 30-28, Ball State then busted a long run for a touchdown to make it 37-28, which covered. That wasn’t the end though because Kent State’s QB Tommy Ulatowski threw his 4th touchdown pass to make it a 37-35 final.
(SAT 3:30) Stanford (+23.5) @ Notre Dame, Fan Duel
Stanford 7 @ Notre Dame 49, LOSS
Bad Pick by me. I didn’t think Notre Dame would be able to cover a 3 touchdown spread. Their offense was balanced with 248 through the air and 229 on the ground, spread between 16 different players touching the ball. Their defense was tenacious holding Stanford to 200 total yards on offense. Notre Dame showed upon a day I didn’t expect them to.
(SAT 3:30) Purdue @ Illinois (-19), Draft Kings
Purdue 49 @ Illinois 50, LOSS
This one pisses me off the most. The final makes it look like this wasn’t close at all. However, if you watched the game or even just looked at the box score you would notice Illinois’ controller died at halftime. Illinois is up 27-3 coming out of halftime and even still by that halfway through the 3rd quarter. Then a long TD pass and a sack fumble TD had Purdue right back into it. After that it was back and fourth the rest of the game and Illinois needed a FG to go to OT and pull it out. Illinois Should have covered this game, but they fucked around and almost found out. I am not done fading Purdue. I think Illinois might be just another mid-tier BIG 10 team, nothing special. Maybe they were looking ahead to the game against Michigan this week. Oh well.
(SAT 3:30) California @ Pittsburgh (-3.5), Fan Duel
California 15 @ Pittsburgh 17, LOSS
Pitt defended the Steel City, but they couldn’t cover. I expected a little bit more scoring out of Pitt in this game, but their defense carried them. Pitt’s QB Eli Holstein didn’t have a great day going 14/28 133 yards 2 INT’s. The offense for Pitt as a whole was mediocre, only producing 277 yards. Cal’s QB Fernando Mendoza had 272 yards through the air himself. Rain caused an issue in any points being scored and limited Pitt’s offense helping Cal. Cal did have a chance for the win but missed a late field goal.
(SAT 3:30) Penn State (-3.5) @ Southern California, Fan Duel
Penn State 33 @ USC 30, LOSS
Another tough beat. A damn half point. Penn State got behind early and played catch up most of the game chasing USC. Penn State’s QB Drew Allar threw 3 INT’s which helped USC put points on the board. USC was able to shut done Penn State’s rushing game, but if Allar wasn’t throwing INT’s he was getting the ball to TE Tyler Warren. He tied the record for most catches by a TE in a game with 17. He had 224 yards and a touchdown as well. He was a problem that couldn’t be contained and kept Penn State in this game. A couple of touchdowns were traded late to force OT. USC missed their field goal in OT and Penn State hit theirs. Looking back, I shouldn’t have taken the bad number, but a bounce here or there and it covers. Nevertheless, we learn and move on.
(SAT 7:30) Ole Miss @ LSU (+3.5), Fan Duel (Profit Boost) “Aug Dog of the Week”
Ole Miss 26 @ LSU 29, WIN
Death Valley at night is a tough place to play. Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin found out on Saturday. This was another game that almost went the other way. Ole Miss had the lead most of the game and looked to be taking the win and the cover. Then LSU threw a gaming tying touchdown and extra point with under a minute left to force OT. Then in OT Ole Miss kicked a field goal while LSU scored a touchdown. Heartbreaker for Ole Miss, but Brian Kelly is ya know…. So, I’m sure he has a deal with the devil.
(SAT 7:30) Ohio State (-3) @ Oregon, Draft Kings (Profit Boost)
Ohio State 31 @ Oregon 32, LOSS
Another tough beat on the spread. Some early botched extra points/ two-point failures by Oregon influenced the scoring script for each team even late in the game. It didn’t matter too much on the last drive though, because Ohio State QB Will Howard made a terrible mistake by sliding as time expired to not even give Ohio State a shot in the end. This game was back and forth, which was expected. I was hoping the game could end on an Ohio State touchdown but no luck.
(SAT 8:00) Iowa State @ West Virginia (total 53.5) OVER, Fan Duel
Iowa State 28 @ WVU 16 (total 44), LOSS
This was my other awful pick. Iowa State got off to a slow start, but eventually started rolling. They were led by RB Carson Hansen who had 3 rushing touchdowns and 96 yards. West Virginia had a sloppy game, 2 INT’s and a missed field goal hurt us in even sniffing the over. Iowa State is in the driver seat for the BIG 12 title game now.
(SAT 10:15) Kansas St @ Colorado (total 55.5) OVER, Fan Duel
Kansas State 31 @ Colorado 28 (total 59), WIN
We squeaked this one by. There were 21 points scored in the 4th quarter that helped cover this pick, which came as a surprise seeing as Travis Hunter and Jimmy Horn Jr left the game with injuries along with 2 other Colorado wide receivers. Colorado mounted a late comeback behind QB Sheduer Sanders to take the lead. However, Kansas State answered back with a touchdown to take the lead late and secure the victory.
