Week 4 Review

(SAT 12:00) Tulane (-1.5) @ Louisiana, Fan Duel

Tulane 41 @ Louisiana 33, WIN

This was a great football game. Up and down the field both teams went. Tulane was the better team, led by RB Makhi Hughes who had a big day on the ground. QB Darian Mensah didn’t have the biggest day through the air for Tulane, but it didn’t matter because Tulane was scoring other ways, like a pick-6. Louisiana Lafayette was carried by QB Ben Woolridge’s day. He had two passing scores and two rushing touchdowns, but he also threw two interceptions. Tulane was the smart pick.

(SAT 12:00) Tulane (-1.5) @ Louisiana, Fan Duel

Tulane 41 @ Louisiana 33, WIN

This was my big-ticket game for the day. I should have let everyone know, but I decided to put a couple extra units on Indiana right before. This was a little bit of a sweat in the first half, but then HC Curt “The Cig” Cignetti got his defense on track, and they blew the doors off Charlotte in the second half. “The Cig” was in for a real coaches duel this week with Charlotte HC Biff Pogi, who looks my Aunt Connie’s female “roommate”. Indiana looks so crisp right now; we will see what they have when they play some teams that are competent. This win was nice for my bankroll and helped start a good day.

(SAT 3:30) USC (-4.5) @ Michigan, Fan Duel

USC 24 @ Michigan 27, LOSS

Another great game on Saturday. Michigan played their game of physical football and pulled off a big win at home. Michigan needed this win to keep their playoff hopes truly alive. They played sound defense and were able to run the ball very well and were rewarded with some big runs on the ground. Michigan didn’t force QB Alex Orji to win the game and let the RB’s do the work. As for USC they were welcomed to the BIG 10 with a tough matchup. Their offense had trouble blocking and led to a lot of inconsistencies on offense. They are still a good team, but they ran into an elite defense at home. This game made me respect Texas’s performance earlier this year much more. I was on the wrong side of this one.

(SAT 3:30) Arkansas @ Auburn (total 56) OVER, Draft Kings

Arkansas 24 @ Auburn 14, (total 38), LOSS

7-0 after the first half, we knew this was dead right then and there. Auburn is a very broken team right now. They had 4 interceptions thrown by 2 different QB’s. HC Hugh Freeze seems to be in over his head. Who knows if that grifter will have a job next year. I might be fading Auburn in the future. Arkansas was led by QB Taylen Green who was literally throwing his body at Auburn defenders. He was an animal. It’s too bad he couldn’t have gotten going earlier in the game. Obviously, I was on the wrong side on this one, I liked Arkansas too. Should of went with my gut.

(SAT 7:00) Miami (-16.5) @ South Florida, Fan Duel

Miami 50 @ South Florida 15, WIN

Another game with a little bit of sweat to start the game. However, Miami has QB Cam Ward and he might be the Heisman favorite right now. Ward threw for over 400 yards and 3 touchdowns. This is a team that is absolutely rolling right now. Miami’s defense was on lockdown as well, containing USF QB Byrum Brown. He didn’t run for much and when it came time to throw the ball and keep up with Miami, USF couldn’t hang. Miami will head back to actual south Florida and not this fake south Florida Tampa Bay bull shit.

(SAT 7:00) Tulsa (+3.5) @ Louisiana Tech, Fan Duel “Aug Dog of the Week”

Tulsa 23 @ LA Tech 20, WIN

Auggie gets back on track with a nice underdog cover and outright win in OT. LA Tech used 3 different QBs in the game, none of which were lighting up. A turnover in overtime for Tulsa helped them get the win. HC Sonnie Cumbie and LA Tech are in for a long season. This win definitely helps my under of 4.5 wins for LA Tech. Tulsa isn’t much better, but they needed this win to try and get bowl eligibility. Good road win for Tulsa.

(SAT 7:30) Tennessee (-6.5) @ Oklahoma, Fan Duel

Tennessee 25 @ Oklahoma 15, WIN

Neither team was truly exceptional. The difference was Tennessee had the defense to get the important stops. Tennessee is usually an up-tempo team, but they slowed things down in Oklahoma. Tennessee’s QB Nico Iamaleava wasn’t the dynamic QB he was in weeks past, but he didn’t have to be. That’s because Oklahoma was struggling on offense. Apparently, Oklahoma has a QB controversy now. QB Jackson Arnold has looked mediocre, and he will now have to compete for the starting job with QB Micheal Hawkins Jr. Oklahoma needs to figure out the QB position, because they have a solid defense. As for Tennessee, they should be on their way to the playoffs. QB Nico Iamaleava is in the race for the Heisman, although after this week Miami’s QB Cam Ward may have taken the “lead.”

(SAT 8:00) Michigan State @ Boston College (total 45.5) OVER, Fan Duel

Michigan State 19 @ Boston College 23 total 42, LOSS

This is a game I feel like I was on the right side of. In the fourth quarter there were a couple of times I thought we had this cashed. Michigan State QB Aidan Chiles was the one who cost the over. He threw 3 interceptions, including one in the final minute to seal the win for Boston College. QB Thomas Castellanos didn’t look lights out, but he was serviceable and helped Boston College get the win. I’d bet the over again in this game 100%.
