Week 4 Preview

(SAT 12:00) Tulane (-1.5) @ Louisiana, Fan Duel

This game has two teams that have played very different schedules. Tulane has played K-State, Oklahoma and an FCS school. Louisiana Lafayette has played Grambling State(FCS) and Kennesaw(who just moved up from FCS). I like Tulane’s HC Jon Summeral to be able to contain the Louisiana offense. He coached at Troy and has seen this team/staff before. Also, Tulane’s offense has looked good with young QB Darian Mensah. I like this game at -2.5, but no higher.

(SAT 12:00) Charlotte @ Indiana (-28.5), Fan Duel

This is a tale of two teams heading in 2 opposite directions early in the season. Indiana has been pummeling opponents. The teams Indiana has beat are not the best, but still they have killed all their opponents. Charlotte on the other hand has been struggling to start the season. They have been pushed around by teams on their level this season, now they face an Indiana team firing on all cylinders. To make matters worse Charlotte is now down to their 3rd string QB, Trexler Ivey, yes that is his name. My only worry in this game is a back door cover because Charlotte is trying to get work in for QB Trexler, awful name. Maybe look at first half spread Indiana if this ventures higher than 29.5.

(SAT 3:30) USC (-4.5) @ Michigan, Fan Duel

I’m betting USC and I don’t feel great about it. The major reason is USC finally has a defense that they can rely on to get timely stops on opposing offenses. They face a Michigan team that is starting a new QB in Alex Orji. I think Alex will be in the middle of an orgy when the USC defense dogpiles him in the back field. As for USC’s offense I think they can move the ball enough to put up some points on the board and cover. Michigan still has an elite defense that could cause problems for QB Miller Moss and USC’s offense, but Texas showed that Michigan is vulnerable to an efficient offense who has good QB, which I believe Miller Moss is. Lincoln Reily will have his hands full but, I’ll take USC -4.5 and no higher.

(SAT 3:30) Arkansas @ Auburn (total 56) OVER, Draft Kings

In this matchup we have two struggling defenses trying to contain offenses that are looking to put up points. Arkansas OC Bobby Petrino is one of the best play callers in the country. His rushing attack on offense is one of the best in the nation, boasting a success rate on rush plays that ranks 8th and on all plays that ranks 24th in the nation. He will be playing against an Auburn defense that was handled by Cal’s offense. Arkansas QB Talen Green is a big physical specimen who can make plays and should be productive in this game. On the other side Arkansas’ defense is equally suspect as Auburn’s. Which is a good thing for a QB about to have his first SEC start, QB Hank Brown. Brown has thrown for 6 td’s this season whit no int’s. I expect the Auburn offense and their young QB to find some success in this game, especially in front of the home crowd at Jordan-Hare. I’d take the over up to 57.5.

(SAT 7:00) Miami (-16.5) @ South Florida, Fan Duel

I like Miami in this game mainly due to the fire power they have on offense with QB Cam Ward. Miami has been waxing every team they play so far this year, including Florida in the swamp. As for South Florida they have been beating up on inferior teams and then getting handled when facing a tougher opponent like Alabama. South Florida struggles to defend the pass, success against pass plays ranks 88th in the nation. I do like USF QB Byrum Brown, but he is a runner more than a passer which won’t be great playing against a team that scores as much as Miami. I like this 17 or lower for a bet.

(SAT 7:00) Tulsa (+3.5) @ Louisiana Tech, Fan Duel “Aug Dog of the Week”

The Aug Dog is looking for redemption this week after the debacle in Manhattan, Kansas last week. We reviewed the board and as much as we wanted to take Cal (+2.5) @ Florida State. We figured we needed to stay away from that dumpster fire. So, we decided to go to an actual landfill. Look both of these teams suck ass, but LA Tech might suck a little bit more. LA Tech HC Sonny Cumbie is on the hot seat right now. They had a nice half of play against NC State’s back up, but other than that they have struggled. Their defense is mediocre, but their offense is putrid. I think Tulsa can keep this game close and possibly pull off the upset. I wouldn’t take them at +2.5 or +1.5, I would take them Money Line instead.

(SAT 7:30) Tennessee (-6.5) @ Oklahoma, Fan Duel

I like Tennessee in this SEC match up. QB Nico Imalavea for Tennessee has been lights out this year and a true Heisman contender. He is led by HC Josh Heupel who is a former Oklahoma QB. You would think Heupel is ready to unleash Nico on this Oklahoma defense. Where I think this game is in Tennessee’s favor is on the defensive side of the ball. Their defense has looked tenacious, and it is about to be facing an offense that has been struggling to find its identity behind QB Jackson Arnold. I like Tennessee to cover in this one, I would not take them over 6.5.

(SAT 8:00) Michigan State @ Boston College (total 45.5) OVER, Fan Duel

Two quarterbacks I really like in this game, MSU QB Aidan Chiles and BC QB Thomas Castellanos. They can both sling the ball with explosive plays but are also known to set up the other team with badly timed interceptions. I trust Boston College HC Bill O’Brian and Michigan State HC Johnathan Smith to scheme up some points. I think the total is a little low, I would take it up to 47.5.
