Week 12 Review
Week 12 Review
(TUES 7:00) Ball State @ Buffalo (-5), Draft Kings *Man in the Stands Game
Ball State 48 @ Buffalo 51, LOSS
Back and forth game, that frankly Ball State blew. They were up 14 with seven minutes left to play, but UB forced overtime. Ball State kicked a field goal in OT, while UB threw a touchdown pass that ended the game. Tough loss for another “Man in the Stands” game.
(SAT 12:00) Utah @ Colorado (-9.5), Fan Duel
Utah 24 @ Colorado 49, WIN
This was virtually no sweat. A couple early mistakes by Colorado kept Utah closer than they really were. Travis Hunter is a monster and Sheduer Sanders might be the best QB in the country. Easy cover and win.
(SAT 12:00) Tulane @ Navy (total 52.5) OVER, Fan Duel
Tulane 35 @ Navy 0 (total 35), LOSS
I get Tulane is a wagon, but Navy showed no life in this game. Then things got worse when their starting QB Blake Horvath left with a rib injury. We would have had a better shot if he finished obviously. I was trying to use a system I’m developing on this game, and it didn’t hit. I still think the system has legs. Tough loss here.

(SAT 3:00) Hawaii (-2.5) @ Utah State, Fan Duel
Hawaii 10 @ Utah State 55, LOSS
Hawaii got pillaged from start to finish. Utah State scored 24 straight to start the game. Hawaii threw 5 interceptions and never really had a chance in this one. The worst pick of the week by far in a week of some bad ones. Let me go drown in my tears listening to ‘Over the Rainbow’ by Isreal Kamakawiwo'ole. RIP Big Man.
(SAT 3:00) Sam Houston (-15.5) @ Kennesaw State, Draft Kings
Sam Houston 23 @ Kennesaw State 17, LOSS
I did not expect Kennesaw State to show up and fight the way they did. Sam Houston realistically should have handled them but give Kennesaw State some credit. They forced Sam Houston into an overtime game. Regardless, bad pick wouldn’t make again.
(SAT 3:30) Boston College @ SMU (total 53.5) OVER, Fan Duel
Boston College 28 @ SMU 38 (total 66), WIN
This game was played out to the game script I thought. Two decent offenses in a reasonably close game, that would keep trying to score until the end. The system under development worked in this game. Good pick.
(SAT 3:30) Virgina (+22.5) @ Notre Dame, Fan Duel
Virgina 14 @ Notre Dame 35, WIN
There is no way Virginia should have covered this game. Virginia turned the ball over 5 times, but they scored a touchdown with less than a minute to go to cut the lead to 21 and give us the cover. We will take wins like this anytime, but especially on a rough weekend.
(SAT 4:00) James Madison @ Old Dominion (total 51.5) OVER, Draft Kings
James Madison 35 @ Old Dominion 32 (total 67), WIN
Another system win for the Over-taker. A close game with both teams trying to score until the end made this game a non-sweat. A big second quarter really helped push this over along. This kind of game was needed when losses were everywhere this week
(SAT 6:00) Rutgers @ Maryland (total 52.5) OVER, Fan Duel
Rutgers 31 @ Maryland 17 (total 48), LOSS
The system was so close on this one. Maryland was able to move the ball, but a missed field goal and 3 turnovers on downs hurt them and the over. Rutgers offense looked good and had their way throwing the ball on Maryland’s weak pass defense. Would take the over again.
(SAT 7:00) Arizona State (+9) @ Kansas State, Bet MGM
Arizona State 24 @ Kansas State 14, WIN
Easy no-sweat win here. It was because I watched this game at the bar, Rookie’s, next to a greasy guy named Kenny. He has a wild mustache, and he works at Vidler’s. He also happened to be from Arizona, and he went to ASU! He knew it was a party school and the way he was ripping shots I knew he wasn’t lying about going there. Anyways, Arizona State +9 was never in doubt. Thanks Kenny!
(SAT 7:30) Tennessee @ Georgia (total 47.5) UNDER, Fan Duel-Profit Boost
Tennessee 17 @ Georgia 31 (total 48), LOSS
This game taught me a valuable lesson. ALWAYS TAKE THE BEST NUMBER AVAILABLE. I was tricked into taking 47.5 on Fan Duel because of a Profit Boost. Bet MGM had the total at 48.5. If I had just stuck with the better number and not chased the profit boost, we would have a winning week. I reached into the book of bad ideas, can’t be doing that. Unreal beat.
(SAT 9:30) Washington State @ New Mexico (total 70.5) OVER, Cesars
Washington State 35 @ New Mexico 38 (total 72), WIN
Well let’s go from an unreal beat to an unreal win. New Mexico scored a last-minute touchdown to take the lead and the over. Under a minute to go 35-31 Washington State, New Mexico scores on a QB sweep and helps us get that over. Another game we had no business getting the win on, but we will take it.
(SAT 10:15) Kansas @ BYU (total 56.5) OVER, Draft Kings
Kansas 17 @ BYU 13 (total 30), LOSS
Yea, I feel ya kid. Defense was the name of the game here and I was expecting offense. BYU got the ball inside Kansas’ 20 yard line four times only to come away with 0 touchdowns. On one of those drives, BYU had a drive that took over 10 minutes in the 3rd quarter and all they got was a field goal. That was an over killer. Bad pick, but I think everyone, and their brother was on the over here.
